A little help, then back to typing.

Find a starting point, keep your progress safe and solve common sign-in problems.

Where should I start?

Find your path recommends a course from your grade or everyday goal. Start the first lesson if you are new to typing. For courses that support placement, the optional test can help you skip keys you already know.

Today gives you a daily plan. Progress shows your course, personal milestone and weekly recap. In Settings, choose your keyboard layout, hand guide, practice preferences and daily goal.

I cannot sign in

Email sign-in uses a six-digit code instead of a password. Check the email address and spam folder, then request a new code from Sign in. Use the newest code; it expires after ten minutes and replaces earlier codes. If you hit a request limit, wait before trying again.

If you normally use Google or GitHub, use the same provider when it is available. Recovery of that provider account happens with the provider.

For a school account, check the class code and username with your teacher. Ask your teacher to reset a forgotten PIN. Repeated wrong PINs can temporarily lock sign-in; do not keep guessing. Join a class is the classroom entry point.

Before leaving a shared computer

Check the name in the account menu before practising. When you finish, check the save status and choose Sign out from that menu. Tutype tries to save pending progress and clears the active account’s local progress; if saving fails, it keeps pending changes for that account’s next sign-in on the same browser.

Guest progress belongs to the browser and can join the next account that signs in there. Use your own browser profile or sign in before practising on a shared machine. Clearing browser storage removes local progress, so first save anything you want to keep.

Practise without a connection

While connected, open Settings, find Offline lessons, choose a course and select Download course. Wait until it is ready, then open its offline practice link and bookmark it for later.

Downloaded passages let you practise with speed and accuracy feedback. Qualifying results save in this browser’s practice history. Reconnect and reopen the main app to sync signed-in progress.

Offline practice does not unlock lessons, update key mastery or submit classroom work. Games, sign-in and AI need their usual connected pages. Clearing browser storage can remove downloads. Removing a course download in Settings keeps its saved practice results.

Missing progress, reminders and account data

Guest progress stays in this browser. Private browsing, clearing site data or switching browsers can remove access to it. Signed-in progress syncs when connected. Use the same account and check the account menu’s save status before switching devices.

Choose Download my data in the account menu to export your saved account data. The current account menu does not offer progress reset or account deletion. For account or data changes, school-managed learners should ask a teacher or school administrator; other learners should contact their installation provider. Find contact options.

Daily reminder emails are optional. Change the reminder in Settings or use the unsubscribe link in an email. Email delivery requires connectivity and the service to be available.

Read Privacy for what is saved and what your school can see.

What happens when I use AI?

AI writing and review are optional and require sign-in. Asking for a passage sends your prompt to Google Gemini through Tutype’s server; extending a passage also sends its existing text. Drafting, improving or reviewing a practical writing task sends the task instructions and your current response. Review also includes the original task text.

Use sample details rather than private information. You can practise and write manually without asking AI. AI feedback can be wrong and is practice guidance, so review suggestions before using them.
